National Energy Conservation Day

  • It is observed on 14 December to raise awareness about the need for energy and its conservation in daily life.
  • Since 1991, it is celebrated every year on 14 December by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), under the Ministry of Power.
  • Ministry of Power is celebrating the Energy Conservation Week from 8th to 14th December 2021 under “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”.

Grievance redressal index list

  • Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) topped the grievance redressal index in November, for the fourth month in the index.
  • The report was published by the Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances Department (DARPG) which includes all Group A Ministries, Departments, and Autonomous Bodies for the resolution of public grievances.
    • The Electronics and Information Technology Ministry stated that UIDAI has moved towards a centralized grievance handling mechanism through its Open-Source customer relationship management system.

India Will Be First To Hold Satellite Spectrum Auction

  • India will be the first country to auction spectrum for satellite communication, and it should be designed to attract investments in the sector, the telecom regulator said the TRAI chairman.
  • TRAI chairman said any system that we will be bringing is to actually encourage and promote investment in the sector, and not increase any burden so the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India will soon make recommendations to make permissions required for satellite communications.

New Zealand has introduced a new smoking law for Youngsters

  • Youngster smoking is permanently banned in New Zealand. Also, there is an age limit for buying cigarettes.
  • A new bill has been tabled in Parliament to reduce the country’s addiction to smoking and according to the new bill; smoking has been banned among the youth.
  • According to the new law, people born after January 1, 2009, have been banned from buying cigarettes.

“India in Pixels” published Per capita income

  • The ‘India in Pixels’ organization has published a report on per capita income for the years 2019-2020. In this, the per capita income statistics have been arranged according to Indian states and districts.
  • Tiruvallur district tops the list of Tamil Nadu’s highest earners, in that district each of whom earns at least Rs 3.84 lakh per annum.
  • Coimbatore district is ranked 2nd and Erode district is ranked 3rd.

“NAMATHU CLINIC” scheme to be opened in Karnataka

  • Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will inaugurate ‘NAMATHU CLINIC’ dispensaries in all districts for the benefit of the urban poor people on December 14, 2022.
  • Also, the government plans to open 438 of our clinics across the state, and 114 clinics will be opened initially and the rest are slated to open by the end of January 2023.

Zika virus detected in Karnataka

  • Zika virus has been detected for the first time in Karnataka. A 5-year-old girl from Raichur district has been confirmed to be infected with the Zika virus, said to the state government.
  • The Zika virus was discovered in 1947 in the East African country of Uganda. According to the World Health Organization, the Zika virus is transmitted to humans by Aedes mosquitoes.

450 types of medical tests provided free in Delhi

  • From January 1 the state government has announced that 450 types of medical tests will be provided free of charge at hospitals and primary health centres in Delhi.
  • At present, the number of free medical check-ups conducted by the Delhi government is 212, in which case, on behalf of the Delhi Chief Minister’s Health Department, it is planned to provide 238 more free medical check-ups and tests in hospitals and government primary health centres in the state.

IIT Madras Launches IDDD Programme on Quantitative Finance

  • The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has launched a new Interdisciplinary Dual Degree (IDDD) programme on Quantitative Finance.
  • The new programme would be jointly offered by the Departments of Management Studies, Computer Science and Engineering and Mathematics for students belonging to B.Tech dual degree.

NASA’s spacecraft returned to Earth from the Moon

  • After the Apollo space program, NASA developed a project called ‘Artemis-1’ to send humans to the moon for the first time.
  • After the successful completion of the mission, the spacecraft returned to Earth and entered the atmosphere at 32 times the speed of sound, causing a temperature of 5,000 degrees Fahrenheit.

World Junior Wushu Championship Series 2022

  • World Junior Wushu Championship Series held in Indonesia.
  • Ayeera Chishti from Jammu and Kashmir won the bronze medal in this series. She became the first Kashmiri player to win a medal in the first World Junior Vishu Championship series.

National Shooting Championship 2022

  • Manu Bhaker bagged a gold medal in the 10-meter pistol junior women’s event at the National Shooting Championship held in Bhopal.
  • In the 65th edition of the National Shooting Championship, Haryana’s Manu Bhaker beat Telangana’s Esha Singh in the final and becomes top and qualified with 583 points.
