Human Rights Day

  • Human Rights Day is celebrated on 10 December.
  • The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted in 1948 by the United Nations General Assembly.
  • This day is observed to protect the fundamental human rights of all people and their basic human freedom.
  • The Theme of Human Rights Day in 2022 is “Dignity, Freedom, and Justice for All”.

Death Anniversary of Alfred Nobel

He was a famous scientist, inventor, businessman, and founder of Nobel Prizes. His father was an engineer and inventor. He was born on October 21, 1833, and died on December 10, 1869. He invented dynamite and other more powerful explosives.

19t Asian art biennale held in Bangladesh

  • Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the 19th Asian Art Biennale in Dhaka.
  • The art event will exhibit a variety of art forms including paintings, prints, photographs, installation, performance art, sculpture and new media art created by the participating artists from across the globe.
    • A two-day seminar is also being held as part of the Biennale on the theme of ‘Home and Displacement’.

Krishi Udan Scheme 2.0 has been implemented in 5 more cities

  • Krishi Udan Scheme 2.0 was announced on October 27, 2021, to focus on the rapid transport of perishable goods in hilly areas, northeastern states and tribal areas in India.
  • The first phase of the scheme is being implemented at 25 airports, focusing on North-East, Hill and Tribal areas. For other areas, it is implemented at 28 airports, at present 5 more airports have been added and the total number of airports has increased to 58 numbers.

Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Day conclave 2022

  • Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare is organizing a two days conclave commemorating the “Universal Coverage Day (UHC) 2022” on 10th and 11th December 2022 at Varanasi.
  • Universal Health Coverage (UHC) aims that ‘all people have access to needed promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative health services, of sufficient quality to be effective.
    • The theme of UHC day is “Build the World We Want A Healthy Future for All”

International Fleet Review 2022

  • International Fleet Review 2022 is being conducted by Bangladesh Navy (BN), to commemorate the Birth Centenary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the Independence of Bangladesh.
  • Indian Navy ships Kochi, Kavaratti and Sumedha arrived in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh to participate in the maiden International Fleet Review (IFR) being conducted by the Bangladesh Navy.

Passports Index – 2022 list published

  • Passport Index – 2022 was published by Arton Capital ranking the world’s strongest and weakest passports.
  • In that list, UAE ranked first in the rating of passports for 2022 and India ranked 87 in the world’s strongest passport list.
    • The Passport Index is based on the 139 members of the United Nations and six territories were considered for the list.

New technology of ‘Rapid Road’ has been opened in Bangalore

  • Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai inaugurated the Rapid Road, which has been developed with new technology in Bangalore.
  • More days are taken for completion of concrete road construction in the city and for various purposes of works breaking and removing the road are a very difficult task and in order to avoid this, the “Rapid Road” road has been opened on a trial basis.
    • “Rapid Road” Road – In this project concrete slabs are prepared in advance and it’s used for the construction of roads.

Climate Change Action Plan launched in Tamil Nadu

  • Chief Minister M.K.Stalin will inaugurate the Climate Change Action Plan, which has been developed to monitor climate change in Tamil Nadu, on December 9, 2022, in Chennai.
  • A fund of Rs.77.35 crore has been allocated for the first phase of implementation of the ‘Tamil Nadu Climate Change Initiative’.
    • 3.80 crore has been allocated to start this scheme in all districts.
    • The district administration will be the leader of the district-level climate change initiatives.

The International Information Technology Conference will be launched in Tamil Nadu in 2023

  • Tamil Nadu Minister Mano Thangaraj said that an international summit on developing technology on behalf of the Tamil Nadu government will be held in Chennai from March 23 to 25, 2023.
  • A grand summit will be held on the theme of ‘Technology, Entrepreneurship and Skill Development by the Tamil Nadu Electronics Corporation (Elcot).

A sanitation worker development scheme has been launched in Tamil Nadu

  • Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin started the sanitation worker development scheme on Dec 9, 2022.
  • In this scheme, 53,301 sanitation workers will be provided with protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, leg shoes, and luminous shirts.
  • Also, from this scheme, the standard of living and the economy of the sanitation workers will improve.

Jaylen Smith has been elected America’s youngest black mayor

  • 18-year-old Jaylen Smith has won the mayoral election for the small town of Earle, east of the state of Arkansas in the United States, against Nemi Matthews, the road and sanitation superintendent.
  • From this victory, he became the youngest mayor in American history.

Lupin spiro Gavaris as president of U.S.generic business

  • Pharmaceuticals firm Lupin Ltd appointed Spiro Gavaris as president of its US generics business.
  • Spiro, already served as president of the Specialty Generics business at Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals and the president of US Injectables at Hikma, And he will be responsible for the overall strategy, implementation and growth of Lupin’s US generics business, company.

Indian-origin Susmita Shukla was appointed as the first VP of the federal reserve bank of New York

  • The Federal Reserve Bank of New York has appointed Indian-origin Sushmita Shukla as First Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.
  • As First Vice President, Shukla, 54, will be the institution’s second-ranking officer. and her appointment was approved by the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.
