India Surpasses UK to Become World’s 5th Largest Economy

India has surpassed Britain to become the world’s fifth largest economy, Bloomberg reported. The change in ranking has pushed the United Kingdom to the sixth spot as the country continues to grapple with the brutal cost-of-living shack. The Indian economy is forecast to grow more than 7 per cent this year. On an adjusted basis and using the dollar exchange rate on the last day of the relevant quarter, the size of the Indian economy in “normal” cash terms in the quarter through March was USD 845.7 billion. On the same basis, the UK was USD 816 billion, according to the report.

According to the International Monetary Fund, these are the highest-ranking countries in the world in nominal GDP:

  2. China (GDP: 16.4 trillion)
  3. Japan: (GDP: 5.27 trillion)
  4. Germany: (GDP: 4.30 trillion)
  5. India: (GDP: 3.21 trillion)

IILM University: Law School is India’s 1st NEP 2020 compliant Law School

IILM University launched the first National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) Complaint Law School in the Country. The IILM University also got the approval of the Government of Uttar Pradesh and the recognition of the Bar Council of India (BCI). The IILM Law school is also known for its state-of-the-art infrastructure.

G-7 Countries Agrees To Price Cap System For Russian Oil

Members of the G7 have agreed to impose a price cap on Russian oil in a bid to hit Moscow’s ability to finance the war in Ukraine. The cap on crude oil and petroleum products would also help reduce global energy prices. The cap will be set at a level based on a range of technical inputs. “We will continue to stand with Ukraine for as long as it takes,” the G7 said. Russia said it would stop selling oil to countries that imposed price caps. “Companies that impose a price cap will not be among the recipients of Russian oil,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said. The G7 (Group of Seven) consists of the UK, US, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Japan. 

The New Naval Ensign (flag) unveiled at Kochi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the New Naval Ensign (Flag) at Cochin Shipyard Limited in Kochi. The Indian Flag is placed on the top left of the flag, while a blue octagonal shape that encompasses the national emblem sits atop an anchor on the right, which depicts steadfastness. The octagonal shape has been designed to represent eight directions, depicting the multi-directional reach of the Indian Navy. The twin golden borders surrounding it are inspired by Chhatrapati Shivaji.

WHO-UNICEF Report on Progress on WASH in health care facilities

WHO and UNICEF released a report titled “Progress on Wash in Health Care Facilities 2000-2021”.The world is battling the threat of diseases like the Covid-19 epidemic and monkeypox, on the other hand, 51% of the world’s health centres are providing basic facilities. There is no facility like water, soap, sanitiser.385 crore people are dependent on health centres due to a lack of basic facilities, where there are no facilities as water, soap, sanitiser, while 688 crore people are dependent on such health centres where there is no cleanliness and hygiene. There is no connected infrastructure available.

Odisha Govt Disburses Rs 869 crore for Farmers Under KALIA Scheme

Odisha government distributed ₹869 crore to 41.85 state farmers under the Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) scheme and assured them of additional aid for crop losses due to floods in the state. ₹2000 each was directly transferred to the bank accounts of 41 lakh farmers and 85,000 landless farmers under the KALIA Scheme.
