Tamil Nadu EB Bill Calculator (200 Units Free Scheme)

Tamil Nadu electricity bills are calculated using slab-wise tariffs for a bi-monthly billing cycle. Many people search for a TNEB bill calculator or TN EB bill calculator to quickly estimate their current bill amount, especially after the announcement of the 200 units free electricity scheme.

Under the current domestic tariff system, the first 200 units are free if the total electricity consumption stays within 500 units. Once the total usage crosses 500 units, the subsidy structure changes, and the 101–200 unit slab becomes chargeable at ₹4.70 per unit. This is the reason why even a small increase above 500 units can result in a noticeable jump in the EB bill amount.

Use the calculator below to calculate your Tamil Nadu electricity bill along with the slab-wise split up based on the latest TNEB domestic tariff rates.

How the TNEB Bill Calculation Works

Tamil Nadu EB bills are calculated using slab-wise tariff rates for a bi-monthly billing cycle. Under the current 200 units free scheme:

  • If total usage is up to 500 units, the first 200 units are free
  • If usage exceeds 500 units, only the first 100 units remain free
  • The 101–200 slab becomes chargeable at ₹4.70 per unit after crossing 500 units

This is why electricity bills can increase noticeably even when consumption exceeds 500 units by a small margin.

Tamil Nadu Domestic Tariff Slabs

Slab Up to 500 Units Above 500 Units
1–100 Free Free
101–200 Free ₹4.70
201–400 ₹4.70 ₹4.70
401–500 ₹6.30 ₹6.30
501–600 ₹8.40
601–800 ₹9.45
801–1000 ₹10.50
Above 1000 ₹11.55

If total electricity consumption exceeds 500 units, the 101–200 slab becomes chargeable at ₹4.70 per unit.
