Good Governance Day (India)

  • Good Governance Day in India is observed on 25 December to commemorate the birth anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, His Samadhi namely ‘Sadiav Atal’ was dedicated to the nation and reflects his personality as a poet, humanist, statesman, and a great leader.
  • He died at the age of 93 on 16 August 2018. The Good Governance Day was established in 2014 to pay tribute to the former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee to raise awareness about accountability in governance among the people of India.

108th Indian Science Congress

  • The Indian Science Congress will be held in Nagpur in January 2023 with the participation of leading scientists, researchers and educators in India.
  • The conference will be held from 3rd January to 7th January 2023. Nobel laureate scientists are expected to participate in this conference which is held to promote involvement in the field of science and technology.
    • Congress to be held under the theme “Science and Technology for Sustainable Development with Empowerment of Women”.

  • For the first time in Tamil Nadu, ‘blockchain’ technology has been introduced in the idol’s anti-trafficking department.
  • A new website has been created for this technology, through this website the public can file a complaint about idol smuggling, theft, hoarding, and one’s complaint can be seen on the website only by the concerned officer, and it has been informed that this information will be kept confidential.

Losar Festival to mark Ladakhi New Year celebrated in Ladakh

  • Ladakh is celebrating Losar Festival on December 24, to mark the Ladakhi New Year. Ladakhi New Year is the major socio-religious festival of Ladakh celebrated in winter.
  • Losar Festival is also one of the major attractions for tourists in the winter season, as the festival is celebrated mainly with several ritual performances and traditional events of songs and dances.

  • He was experienced as US Ambassador to India during the former US President Obama administration and also served as Assistant Secretary of State for Legislative Affairs.

  • Former army Chief Sitiveni Rabuka was elected Prime Minister of Fiji on 24 December 2022.
  • 74-year-old Sitiveni Rabuka was elected against Bainimarama in a secret ballot voting system in Parliament.

UIDAI receives the DSCI AISS Award for ‘Best Security Practices in Government Sector

  • The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has bagged a top data security award for best practices in the government sector.
  • The award was given to UIDAI during DSCI’s three-day Annual Information Security Summit (AISS) in New Delhi for its significant role in securing national critical Aadhaar infrastructure that provides digital identity-based welfare services to residents.
    • Data Security Council of India (DSCI), a not-for-profit, industry body on data protection in India.

National level Kabaddi championship inaugurated by Union Minister in Udupi Karnataka

  • Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Anurag Singh Thakur will inaugurate the National level Kabaddi championship in Udupi in Karnataka, on December 24, 2022.
  • The National level Kabaddi tournament will be held under MGM grounds where 12 teams from different states will participate. The winner will get the Atal trophy and prize money of one lakh rupees.

  • He won the championship title after beating Malaysia’s second seed Jaryl Teh, This is Sora’s second international badminton title within two months.

World’s Highest-Paid Female Athletes 2022 list

  • Forbes has announced the annual list of the highest-paid female athletes in the world.
  • In that list Japan’s Naomi Osaka ranked 1st place, U.S.s’ Serena Williams ranked 2nd place, China’s Eileen Gu ranked 3rd place, Britains’ Emma Raducanu ranked 4th place, Poland’s Iga Swiatek ranked 5th place and India’s P.V.Sindhu ranked 12th place in the list.
