- World Snowboard Day is commemorated on December 21 to celebrate this exciting sport and its 60-year history.
- Snowboarding became a popular American recreational sport in the late 20th century after surprising the globe in the 1960s.
- Although sales of snowboards and sporting equipment have decreased in recent years, this sport remains an important feature of the Winter Olympics and Paralympics.
- There are regional-level bodies that govern and regulate the sport internationally and also exist to attract people from all places to this sport.
- World Snowboard Day comes in as a flagship premier event for the snowboarding community.
Fifth Scorpene submarine ‘Vagir’ is Delivered to the Indian Navy
- The fifth submarine of Project –75, Kalvari Class submarines, Yard 11879 was delivered to the Indian Navy on 20 Dec 22, Project – 75 includes indigenous construction of six submarines of Scorpene design, and it is a matter of great pride that she has completed all major trials including the weapon and sensor trials in the shortest time in comparison to the earlier submarines.
- These submarines are being constructed at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) Mumbai, under collaboration with M/s Naval Group, France.
The first picture of King Charles’s banknotes revealed
- The new look of banknotes featuring the image of King Charles has been unveiled by the Bank of England.
- The portrait will be the only change to existing designs of £5, £10, £20 and £50 notes and will start to enter circulation from mid of year -2024.
50th edition of Cape Town to Rio Race 2023
- This ocean sailing race will be flagged off from Cape Town on 2 January 2023 and will culminate at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
- The race is one of the most prestigious Trans-Atlantic ocean races.
- Indian Navy’s sailboat INSV Tarini has set sail for an expedition to Cape Town, South Africa for participating in the 50th edition of Cape to Rio Race 2023.
Indian Dance Festival 2022
- Indian Dance Festival 2022 will be held from December 23, 2022, to January 12, 2023, at Mamallapuram Beach Temple Complex, Chennai theevu thidal.
- Spectacular performances by more than 63 troupes will be performed at the festival, including Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, Manipuri, Odissi, Kuchipudi, Karagam, Kavadi, Dhapattam, Wailattam and other state folk arts.
- Mamallapuram Dance Festival was introduced in 1992 and is currently being named the Indian Dance Festival.
Gujarat CM Unveils the logo, website, and social media of Urban- 20
- Gujarat, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel unveiled the logo, website and social media handles of the Urban-20 conference in Gandhi nagar.
- The UNESCO heritage city Ahmedabad will host the Urban 20 cycles as part of G 20 meetings between February to July 2023.
- Urban-20 (U20), one of the Engagement Groups of G20, provides a platform for cities from G20 countries to facilitate discussions on various important issues of urban development including climate change, social inclusion, sustainable mobility, affordable housing, etc.
India’s first-ever Surety Bond Insurance products from Bajaj Allianz
- Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has launched one of India’s first-ever Surety Bond Insurance products from Bajaj Allianz.
- Insurance will play an important role in this growth; Surety Bond Insurance will act as a security arrangement for infrastructure projects and will insulate the contractor as well as the principal.
The Chairman of the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) was Appointed
- Senior nuclear scientist Dinesh Kumar Shukla has been appointed as the Chairman of the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB).
- While G. Nageswara Rao was the Chairman of AERB, Dinesh Kumar Shukla, who was its Executive Director, has been appointed as the new Chairman.
- He will hold the post for three consecutive years, according to the central government.

Former Australian PM Kevin Rudd appointed ambassador to the US
- Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced the appointment of Former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd as the nation’s next ambassador to the United States on 20th December 2022.
- Rudd served as prime minister from 2007 to 2010 and he served as foreign minister from 2010 to 2012.
Tamil Nadu Government Interpreter Award 2021
- Child writer S.Sukumaran, originally from Sathankulam, Tuticorin district, has been nominated for Tamil Nadu Government’s Translator Award for the year 2021.
- Translated 12 world-famous children’s novels (Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Adventures of Tamsawyer)into Tamil. He has written 51 books so far.
- He has received many awards for his works in children’s literature such as A. Valliappa Award, Tirupur Tamil Sangha Award, State Bank Literary Award, and Arts and Literature Council Award.
